Christmas Cheer

I was finishing up my Christmas present shopping yesterday and while I was enjoying my Sushi lunch I couldn't help but notice how stressed everyone seems to be. OK I understand dragging children to the shops to do the present shopping for the in laws and picking out a nice ham and turkey is stressful- but I cant help but feel cheerful and excited when I brave the shops at this time of the year.

This time of year with the giant Christmas trees and decorations glittering all over the place. Its a happy time. School children singing carols, seeing the long line to sit upon Santa Clause's lap.

Maybe I am just a big kid at heart!

Summer Time

It's Summer. Today was a sticky 37 degrees.

All I could think of today was dreaming I was on a majestic Island - clear, turquoise water lappping at the shore line. Coconut Trees rustling in the warm breeze. Soaking up the suns warm rays and collecting seashells in a frilly bikini.

I am a dreamer. I have been since I was a young girl. "A wild, yet captive imagination" one teacher in Primary School told my Parents.

Island life would be a wicked lifestyle. I can see why India Hicks loves it so much...
Jealous or what?!

Stir Fry

Dinner tonight was a yummy Stir Fry.

I started by browning my diced chicken pieces in a hot wok with garlic and ginger - grated and fresh! Slice finely a medium red chili removing the seeds and add to wok.

Remove the chicken from the wok and add 2 sliced carrots, 3 chopped stalks of celery, 1 small broccoli pulled into small "trees", half a red cabbage sliced, and 2 bunches of baby bok choy chopped roughly.

Add 1/4 cup of water so the veggies start to steam.

Add a good splash of soy sauce, teriaky sauce, oyster sauce.

Let the veggies steam until they are still crisp but slightly softer.

served with basmati rice.

This was a hit. Even though only a few flavours were used, the intensity of them is all you need.

Enjoy!

Its Show Time!!

Sorry I have been neglecting my blog, work is hectic right now. Working at The Royal Agricultural Society, we run the 2009 Smoke Free Perth Royal Show. The Show starts on 26 September - next weekend! So as you can imagine planning such a massive event like this doesn't leave much time for anything else.

I am having a couple of days off at the start of next week - to rest up for the start of the show, so I promise I will be posting lots of fabulous things!

I hope you've been having fun without me.

Soaking Up Summer

It's that time of year when the days start to warm up, the sun starts shining a bit brighter, and the days grow longer.
Summer is on its way, and it's the perfect time to start getting your backyards ready for long days laying by the pool, and summer parties.
Outdoor furniture is always the perfect finishing touch to a great backyard. Whether you have thousands to spend or just a few hundred, the choices are always there no matter your budget.
Its no longer the small and cramped wooden table, but a metallic weaved lounge with bright cushions, a simple yet classic Cape Cod style white wooden chair.
Before this summer have a look at your outdoor furniture, and update it with a splash of fresh paint and some bright cushions. Or splash out and buy something with a wow factor that you can enjoy year round.

Pretty Gardens and Lovely Homes

I took these photos at an open garden day late last year. Each year PLC, a local girls school, organizes a fundraiser around the Peppermint Grove area. For a small donation local homeowners open their gardens allowing you access to some of the most stunning gardens in Perth. Each year different homes are selected. Mum and I do it each year and always look forward to getting ideas for our garden, and me in particular like walking around the suburb at the architecture of the homes.

Some of the houses are heritage listed.Upon the start of the walk you are given a brief overview of the history of the home in a pamphlet, which contains your map of the gardens you are to tour in the area with a description of each garden.

At lunch you stop at a house with a large garden for lunch. Coffee, tea, cakes, and sandwiches filled with an assortment of decadent fillings all for a small price.

These pictures were taken on my mobile phone so I do apologize for the bad quality. I cannot wait for the walk later in the year.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Chandeliers are gorgeous in any room. I think they add a touch of class to a bathroom or kitchen, that is usually only seen in a formal living area.

Modern, or classic chandeliers are a classic addition to a space. Growing up, I remember my Grandparents enormous chandeliers in their dining room, and one in the bedroom, which was quite unheard of back then.

On the weekend I will be going to lots of garage sales, and a morning market on Sunday. I know I will probably find my way to a few antique and op shops along the way, hoping to find some gorgeous Chandeliers in the antique shops.

Beautiful Beds

I have a love of bed heads. Leather upholstered, curled wrought iron, pretty florals, bright fabric upholstered heads. They make me want to have revolving bed heads for my bedroom.
At the moment I have a gorgeous black, wrought iron, curled bed head. Id love to have a cream, leather upholstered bed head, it would be a lot more comfortable, when I lean up against it to read my book at night.

New York Living

I like to imagine how other people in the world live, what their style is like, and what their plans are for the day.

New york is somewhere I hope to visit someday. I Love the bold colours used in these New York apartments.

I have spent the weekend pottering in the garden. The sun was out, shining brightly down, it was almost warm!
I love this time of the year, the garden comes alive, the days start getting a little bit warmer, and it is still raining.
I cant wait until my garden springs into life come spring!

Sorry!

Sorry for not posting anything for the last week or so. I have been stuck in bed with a full blown flu. Today is the first day I have been able to get up out of bed in a week and a half.

I promise I will be posting some magical posts once I have some strength back.

I hope you are well, and enjoying your week.

Lounging Around

I adore chaise lounges. I think they look fab in the bathroom. Or in the bedroom where you can lay back by the window reading a book in the afternoon sun.

The first picture is my favourite. I love the brightness of the lime with white.

I am going through a phase, where I want everything to be bright and happy. I think it may be due to the dark and gloomy days Perth is having. Perfect for lazying around reading my new book!
