Golden Glamour

I love gold. To be honest, I love anything that's shiny - I am a bit of a Magpie! Yesterday Mum and I had a really fun girls day. We went to lots of home wares stores and looked at all the nice things we could buy if we had space. I will post some pictures I snapped on my blackberry of the lovely things we saw upon our journey over the weekend. For now here is some golden glamour

A Bit of Blue

I love a bright splash of blue. Like any woman my favourite shade would have to be Tiffany Blue.

How clever to install glass onto a wall and add gold details. A cheaper option would be to use a plastic option, and it wouldn't break! This room is super glamorous. The zebra print rug is amazing.

With my headboard not getting much attention as I have would have liked, I fell in love when I saw this one. The shape adds a an extra element of wow factor.

I know you have seen this a thousand times in blog land, but I simply adore this study area by Mary McDonald.

Luxe Living

I love the chandelier in this dark, opulent living area. Don't the silk curtains add that extra bit of needed glamour to lighten up the area? Fabulous I think!

Style In The City

I love Sarah Jessica Parker. Her style is taken by millions of women all over the world, and turned into something that can work for them. SJP makes the thrown together look work effortlessly, even in a highly styled city such as New York.

Always one for a true style icon, I am always looking in magazines or on the Internet to see what SJP is wearing. Often wearing a neutral tone pallet, Sarah will always throw in a bright punch of colour with a handbag or a fab pair of high heels.
SJP's hair glows with warm blonde highlights and is worn with her natural curl cascading. The whole look goes together and puts the hard working mum of 3 in the style stakes continuously.

Through The Lense

Black & white photography is stunning. Shadows and lighting create shapes that would not be seen through colour. Helmut Newton is perhaps one one the most recognised black & white photographers to date.

Erotic? Yes. Every woman has a sensual side to her, and Newton always managed to capture this sexy side. Women's figures and curves are captured and enhanced through the lens. Whether you like to admit it or not - every woman has an amazing figure, no matter her size or shape. The curves on a woman's body are fabulous. Embrace it ladies.

Maybe a black & white photo shoot Helmut Newton style would help let your inner goddess out!

Wonderful Weekend

A bikini, a bed, a good book and a picnic basket full of delicious treats to go with that fresh seafood. I'd never come home.

Fresh Flowers

Deciding I needed some fresh blooms to brighten up the house, I made a trip to Beauford Street where there are a strip of Asian families who own Florists. They are so cheap, and always have a huge variety. This week I choose, purple stocks for the kitchen table, roses for my bedroom and white ranunculus.

These roses are the most unusual colouring I have ever seen. Such a pretty green and pink stripe.

Happy In The Hamptons

I loooooove Hampton's houses. The architecture is amazing, and I love the beachyness of them. Green manicured lawns and bright, perfect garden beds adorn each house.
Sumptuous parties are thrown all summer long and extravagant amounts of money are spent to keep properties looking perfect. The life styles of the rich and famous allow us to dream away the remaining hours in the day before we jump back to reality before cooking dinner, and organise families.
How is life behind the smear free windows of the people who own luxurious homes? It is probably not as perfect as their gardens, or as happy as one would like it to appear. Children are looked after by nannies and romance is dead. I prefer my humble life. It may not look as lavish and as over the top, although I am more than happy than many of these people. I would not swap my life with anyone.
Day dream your last few hours of the day away with some Hampton's homes!

Loving Living Etc

With more and more online magazines appearing before our eyes, I cant help but love the feeling of glossy pages flicking through my fingers. Call me old fashioned, but some things are never going to change with me. One magazine I love is Living Etc.
You can't pass on a online magazine to a friend when you are done reading it. You cant take a bag of magazines to someone in hospital. There is no tearing out of pages and sticking them on the fridge for your inspiration. No dog-eared pages!
Yes they are great for saving paper. They take up less space, and don't topple over on your coffee table when knocked. True, we do live in an ever changing and growing world where the Internet seems to be taking over, but I cant help but think of the things we are missing out on with this lifestyle.
Here are a few of my favourite pictures from one of my favourite glossies Living Etc

Sonny's New Bed

Armed with my limited sewing skills, I went to work and made Sonny a new bed. It only took an hour and before I knew it he was fast asleep on his new bed. All you need is upholstery fabric - it's nice and thick, some stuffing and a sewing machine. Fold the fabric in half, so you have a rectangle, and sew around 3 sides leaving 1cm from the edge. Stuff the bed with as much stuffing as you want. Turn in the edges of the open side and pin together. Sew together. Easy and super quick.

Fit For A Queen

Many consider Oprah Winfrey as a Queen in her own right. From rags to riches Oprah's life is an inspiration to everyone. Black, white, pink or purple, Oprah proves you can do anything with the right amount of determination and push no matter who you are or where you are from.

The Queen of the screen is finishing her number one talk show this season. Announcing to a stunned audience that she will be flying them to Australia. Oh I forgot the most exciting part of that - on a jet flown by John Travolta no less!

With property all over the American countryside, Oprah owns some of Americas most stunning homes. Oprah's Maui home has been transformed into a marvelous chic farmhouse. Favouring a comfortable neutral palate, finished with bright bunches of fresh flowers, this home is not unlike its owner - calming, warm and inviting.
